Student Life

Joining a student club or sports team is a great way to make friends. The Students’ Union at York St. John University supports around 30 clubs and societies, and student groups of ten or more are welcomed to start new ones as they wish. The Students’ Union at Holgate Centre offers a wide variety of activities—dance parties, sports events—and provides meeting space for many student groups throughout the term.

Student Support Services

York St. John provides its students with access to learning support, with academic tutoring available for those who need help, as well as general health and welfare services. All students are invited to use the Counselling Service and Health Centre when they feel the need.

Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care

The Chaplaincy team at York St. John provide students of all beliefs with sacred, quiet and prayer spaces, access to staff members who are from the Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Judaic, Muslim and Sikh faiths, as well as connections to other local spiritual communities. There is a daily Christian worship in the college chapel. The Chaplaincy is funded by the College and the Diocese of York.
