At Wabash College, we believe that writing is an important part of your education. Students not only write papers in the usual writing-intensive classes like English and History, but also in the sciences and Economics. Across the curriculum, writing is emphasized and valued.
In Economics, papers often contain empirical analyses with regression and other sophisticated tools. Economists have developed certain conventions with respect to empirical papers that we would like our students to understand and, where appropriate, follow.
Several Econ courses at Wabash require that students write an empirical, quantitiative analysis paper. In order to help the student, the two links below are provided:
This guide to writing an economics term paper includes instructions on how to use electronic literature databases, format requirements, and suggestions on data sources.
Past students have kindly agreed to make their papers available as examples to help current students. These example papers are well-written and illustrate what a good undergraduate empirical paper should look like.
